Lucius Licinius Lucullus

Two notables of ancient Rome share the name "Lucius Licinius Lucullus".

The first was a novus homo who became consul in 151 BC. He was imprisoned by the tribunes for attempting to enforce a troop levy too harshly. Upon reaching Spain, he was disappointed to find that the Celtiberians had made peace, and attacked the Vaccaei and Cauci, massacring the second after having made an agreement with them.

His grandson was the famous Lucullus of Plutarch's biography.
