Al Kaline

Albert William Kaline (December 19, 1934) was a Major League Baseball player from 1953 - 1974, spending his entire career with the Detroit Tigers.

In 1955, Kaline became the youngest player in baseball history to capture a batting title at 20 years of age when he hit .340. A versatile and well rounded player, over the course of his career, Al Kaline won 10 Gold Gloves (for excellence in the field) and appeared in 15 All-Star games. He finished his career with 3007 hits (24th on the all-time list) and 399 home runs (a Tigers record). He was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1980.

Since retireing from the playing field, Kaline has remained active within the Tigers organization, first serving as a television broadcaster (1975 - 2002) and later as a consultant to the team.
